The Precedent Office Park and occupant, Defender Direct, teamed up in late 2011 to raise money and donations for the local School on Wheels program and were recently awarded top distinction for the largest donation. In a coordinated effort with the other occupants in the Precedent Park, Defender Direct and the local office of Cassidy Turley, the endeavor raised $27,588 for the program and received Defender Direct's top donor distinction as a preferred charity for the company in 2011.
The School on Wheels program is the only organization in Indianapolis that offers one-on-one tutoring and educational advocacy for school-aged children impacted by homelessness. In Marion County alone, there are more than 3,150 homeless children on any given night. Since its founding in 2001, the School on Wheels program has mobilized 1,740 volunteers to tutor more than 3,280 school-aged homeless children.
In an effort to help children impacted by homelessness with the educational tools necessary to achieve success in life, Defender Direct selected the School on Wheels program to help raise funds to purchase and or provide uniforms to Indianapolis Public School students. "I feel privileged to work for an organization that places such a tremendous emphasis on community involvement," said Patrick McDonald, corporate tax manager at Defender Direct and leader for the School on Wheels project. "It was an absolute pleasure partnering with Cassidy Turley in serving such an incredible charity (School on Wheels). The response and support from others in the Precedent Office Park was overwhelming and allowed us to greatly exceed our original fundraising goal. The results were remarkable!"
"We appreciate the efforts of our local Cassidy Turley property management team in organizing and coordinating the event at Precedent Office Park. We also want to thank our occupant, Defender Direct, in its support of the program. We are proud that the Precedent Park was able to play a small role in the overall initiative of the School on Wheels program," stated Mark Susemichel, Head of Investment Management, US at HDG Mansur Investment Services, LLC.
